The Manager You Will Never Become
When u have a problem, you wanna solve it,
When ur a manager you want to keep ur job
When ur the worker below the manager u wanna change it
At this point u will do anything to climb the corporate ladder cuz u don’t want to accept it
You try extra hard to make management realize you’re the one they desire
So you do little things like bring them coffee, stay extra late, organize their paper clips, and even take on more responsibility
You check your email first thing in the morning and last thing at night
It burns you inside cuz you know u would be an effective manager, you’d be able to meet goals, you’re a great leader, you have conceptual skills, and of course emotional intelligence
But at the end of the day when your little things go unnoticed, it doesn’t mean anything more than it did the day before, you start to feel a little more unappreciated.
Your esteem needs according to Maslow’s hierarchy are not being met and your losing hope and you don’t get the promotion
You want to do more cuz there’s no way Becky in cubicle three is going to get the next one
So you push your self cause giving up and letting go is never an option,
It’s like a competition to manage the little people, the little people that is you,
All you do is wonder if you will ever “win”
And think all about the manager u will probably never get a chance to become.
